Do you like goats? I do! I would like to get one Lord Willing, maybe soon? I was looking at some of the goat breeds yesterday, and one that I like is the Nigerian Dwarf... I think this is the kind that I would be interested in getting. :D We are looking for heritage breeds, such as the Orpington chickens, and the Nigerian Dwarf goat... have you had any experiences with this type of goat, or with any other type of goat, and do you have any recommendations concerning goats? I would like to have a milking goat, even if we get a cow... I'm sure we can use the extra milk or find someone who can use it! :D

I have quite an assortment of animals that I call my own... one of which is Willow; Willow is a female Rouen Duck, and we got her around the same time-frame as the first batch (which themselves actually came in two batches) of chickens! :) One of my brothers and one of my sisters each have 2 ducks, and my dad has one duck, making a total of six ducks. :) Of these six ducks, 4 are Rouen's, and 2 are Pekin ducks. :) My brother and sister really like the ducks! Brother set up a small pond for them that we can put them in sometimes... they like it, and especially bobbing for peas!! Brother throws some peas in the water and the ducks go for them! 'Tis fun to watch!
Hi Everyone!
I wanted to share with you a story of something that happened this evening... it involves, yes, you guessed it, Cocoa the BSL hen! :D I was, again, in the chicken pen, crouched down, and I thought that Cocoa would jump up onto my leg as she has done before... she didn't though. But before long, I felt something on my back... it was Cocoa!! I stood up and Cocoa eventually made her way up to my shoulder, where she sat for a good long while! I even was walking around, but she stayed on my shoulder! I LOVE Cocoa!!!! :D Chickens... call me silly, but I LOVE chickens!! We have chickens that we got recently, so they are still young yet, and we also got some chicks last Thursday! They are adorable! What kinds of chickens do we have? Our flock currently consists of Barred Rocks, Black Australorps, Leghorns, Welsummers, BSL's, Buff Orpingtons, Lavender Orpingtons, and Blue Orpingtons. :D Not all of these chickens will get names most likely, as part of the flock is going to be used for meat birds... but there are some of the first batch, (the Orpingtons are the newest additions, the baby chicks), that do have names. :) Now, to tell you about some of my favorites... Bartlette... I love this chicken! She is a Barred Rock, one of the original 2 that we had (we now have 8 Barred Rocks, half males and half females). Here is a picture of her (she is the dark one in front)... she is a friendly bird that will hopefully make a great egg-layer and mamma chicken. :D One interesting thing about the Barred Rocks is that the males are lighter in color than the females... as you can see in this picture, the one in the back is lighter, and therefore, a rooster. :D Another of my favorite chickens is a BSL hen named Cocoa... she likes to jump up onto my leg when I crouch down in the chicken pen!!! :D Funny Cocoa! Those are two of my favorite chickens, but there are other ones that I like, such as Everett and Prince. :) That will do it for this post though... I really should get some more pictures of the chickens individually sometime! :D
